Talking About Price and Shopping (Cambridge English)
In Unit 3: Talking About Money and Shopping, students develop practical English skills to communicate effectively in everyday shopping and financial situations. This unit is divided into two cycles, each focusing on building essential vocabulary and grammar related to prices, preferences, and comparisons.
Cycle 1: Students practice discussing prices using demonstratives (this, that, these, those) and the pronouns one/ones. They learn to ask and answer questions like, "How much is this?" or "I’ll take the red one." Through role-play and interactive exercises, students gain confidence in shopping scenarios, identifying items, and discussing costs.
Cycle 2: Students talk about their preferences using comparisons with adjectives. They practice sentences such as "This shirt is cheaper than that one," and "I like the blue dress more because it’s more comfortable." By comparing items, students improve their ability to express likes and dislikes and make decisions based on quality, price, and features.
This unit emphasizes practical communication, vocabulary building, and the use of demonstratives, pronouns, and comparative adjectives. By the end of Unit 3, students will be well-prepared to handle real-life shopping conversations and express preferences confidently.
